Zespri to Expand Northern Hemisphere SunGold Production

Zespri is expanding its SunGold kiwifruit production in the Northern Hemisphere to ensure a 12-month supply of fresh fruit. At Fruit Logistica in Berlin, Zespri highlighted its plans to expand into Greece and increase SunGold hectares in Italy, France, Japan, and Korea. This global expansion aims to meet the growing global demand for Zespri kiwifruit. Last year, New Zealand growers voted overwhelmingly to support expanding the Zespri Global Supply (ZGS) program, allowing for up to 420 additional hectares of SunGold annually over six years. This expansion will help satisfy the increasing demand for SunGold, which currently exceeds supply. Zespri will begin commercial production in Greece, leveraging its ideal growing conditions, and will continue expanding in existing Northern Hemisphere locations. This initiative reinforces Zespri's commitment to providing high-quality kiwifruit year-round.
