Wood and Wood Product Exports Aim for Over 18 Billion USD in 2025
The Vietnamese wood and forestry industry is striving to surpass 18 billion USD in wood and wood product exports by 2025. In 2024, total exports reached 16.25 billion USD, a significant increase compared to the previous year. The United States remains the largest market, accounting for 56% of Vietnam's wood and wood product exports. Trade promotion initiatives are essential for achieving the 2025 goal. Expanding into new markets and participating in international exhibitions are key strategies. However, challenges remain, including ensuring the legality of wood sources and navigating increasingly stringent regulations in major markets. Furthermore, embracing green factors and sustainable practices is critical for long-term success. This includes adhering to regulations like the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and developing sustainable, certified forests to ensure a legal and traceable timber supply chain. This commitment to sustainability will be vital for maintaining access to demanding global markets and achieving the ambitious export target.
