Vietnam's Seafood Exports to Maintain Growth in 2025
Vietnam's seafood exports in 2024 surpassed US$10 billion. This success lays the groundwork for maintaining growth and striving towards sustainable development in 2025. Director General of Fisheries, Tran Dinh Luan, expressed confidence in Vietnam's continued export growth. This success stems from flexible management and responsiveness to market demands. In late 2024, favorable market conditions allowed for maximized production efficiency, ensuring sufficient raw materials for export, including aquaculture and wild-caught species like tuna and squid. The industry is focusing on green growth by improving production efficiency and reducing environmental emissions. While there aren't mandatory requirements for emission reduction yet, Vietnam's seafood sector recognizes the importance of meeting global market demands. Furthermore, Vietnam is diversifying beyond shrimp and pangasius farming, exploring high-value species like eel and tilapia. Integrated farming models, incorporating fish, mollusks, and seaweed, are proving sustainable and economically efficient.
