Vietnam's Seafood Exports Surge to US$9.2 Billion
Vietnam's seafood exports reached nearly US$9.2 billion in the first eleven months of 2024, marking an 11.5% year-on-year increase, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). November exports alone totaled US$924 million, a 17% surge compared to November 2023. This strong performance puts the industry on course to hit its US$10 billion export target for the year. Shrimp exports are a key driver, expected to reach US$4 billion in 2024 with a 22% growth in November. Pangasius exports are also projected to reach US$2 billion. While tuna exports saw slower growth, they are still anticipated to reach US$1 billion. The Chinese and US markets remain crucial for Vietnamese seafood, with significant growth recorded in November. Despite facing potential new US tariffs, the industry remains optimistic about maintaining export momentum.
