Vietnamese Farmer's Durian Orchard Earns 15 Billion VND Annually
Mr. Bui Van Quyen, an "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer in 2023," has a thriving durian orchard in Kon Tum province. After shifting from rubber production to durian in 2017, Mr. Quyen committed to organic farming, using imported organic fertilizers and indigenous microorganisms to enrich his soil. This focus on agricultural products and organic farming has resulted in high-quality durian fruit, resistant to pests and diseases, even during challenging weather conditions. His 20-hectare orchard yielded 300 tons of durian last season, earning a profit of 15 billion VND. Mr. Quyen's success demonstrates the potential of sustainable agriculture in Vietnam.
