Vietnam Rice Prices Stable Amidst Slow Trading on February 8, 2025
Domestic rice markets saw limited activity on February 8, 2025, with stable prices and cautious trading. Demand for paddy rice remained slow across various regions, including Kien Giang and Bac Lieu. An Giang farmers offered a significant amount of rice, particularly fragrant varieties. In Can Tho, demand for fragrant rice was slow. Long An farmers maintained asking prices, with stronger demand for rice nearing harvest. Prices for various rice types, including IR 4625 sticky rice, IR 50404 paddy rice, and Dai Thom 8, remained steady. Export markets saw a continued decline in Vietnamese rice prices, with 5% broken rice dropping to 399 USD/ton. Despite slow domestic trading, Dong Thap province aims to expand its high-quality rice cultivation area to 50,000 hectares by 2025, focusing on sustainable farming practices and increased farmer profits.
