Tra Vinh's Specialty Wax Coconut Production Goes Organic, Targets Billion-People Market
Tra Vinh's wax coconut, a specialty fruit of Cau Ke district, is poised to enter the global market. The province is promoting organic farming and aims to have 6,000 hectares of internationally certified organic coconuts by 2025. Currently, over 1,270 hectares are dedicated to wax coconut production, with 70 hectares grown under VietGAP standards and organic practices. Tra Vinh officials are actively pursuing trade partnerships, particularly with China, to expand market access for this high-value fruit. They recently hosted a Chinese delegation to showcase the province's wax coconut products and attract investment. The province is also encouraging domestic businesses to participate in the value chain, from processing to export, emphasizing the economic benefits of this unique fruit.
