Top 4 Durian Suppliers to China in 2024
In 2024, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Malaysia were the top durian suppliers to China. While Thailand remained the largest exporter with over 809,880 tons, Vietnam experienced significant growth, exporting 736,720 tons and solidifying its position as the second largest supplier. This represents a 49.4% increase in export volume for Vietnam compared to 2023, highlighting its growing presence in the Chinese market. Although the average price of Vietnamese durian was lower than Thai durian, the substantial increase in volume contributed to a nearly US$2.94 billion export value. The Philippines and Malaysia also contributed to China's durian import market, focusing on high-growth, low-value and high-value, low-volume segments, respectively. Overall, China imported 1.56 million tons of durian valued at nearly US$7 billion in 2024, indicating the continued strong demand for this fruit.
