To the Place with Nearly 40,000ha of Ecological Rice on Shrimp Farming Land
Ca Mau province boasts nearly 40,000 hectares of certified ecological rice paddies on former shrimp farming land. This includes nearly 800 hectares certified with domestic and international organic standards. Ca Mau also has over 19,000 hectares of shrimp-forest certified as ecological shrimp and over 20,000 hectares of high-quality safe rice. The province actively promotes organic farming practices, focusing on green and clean agricultural products. Local authorities and the agricultural sector support businesses in collaborating with farmers to establish standardized production areas, minimizing environmental impact and avoiding chemicals and genetically modified products. Tai Thinh Phat Farm Cooperative, for instance, expanded from 6 hectares to nearly 1,500 hectares, connecting with 50 farming households. This cooperative prioritizes a complete value chain, ensuring quality from farm to consumer, and produces a variety of frozen and processed products from sustainably sourced shrimp and fish. Ngoc Hien district alone has over 9,300 hectares of certified forestry and aquaculture land. These efforts have resulted in international certifications like ASC and BAP, significantly boosting the export of Vietnamese agricultural products.
