Thailand Prioritizes Food Safety for Fruit Export to China
Thai Prime Minister Paethongtarn recently concluded a four-day visit to China, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and trade. Meetings with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang resulted in agreements to enhance cooperation across various sectors, including trade and infrastructure. Prime Minister Paethongtarn underscored Thailand's commitment to food safety, particularly for fresh fruit exports like durian, emphasizing the importance of meeting China's stringent import standards. This commitment is reinforced by Thailand's nationwide "Safe and Quality Fruits" campaign and recent crackdowns on contaminated fruit. China remains Thailand's largest trading partner, and this visit solidified the commitment to enhance the already strong economic ties between the two nations through initiatives like the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Framework. Thailand aims to significantly increase fruit export revenue, focusing on key markets including China. The Prime Minister reassured Chinese leaders of Thailand's dedication to providing high-quality, safe agricultural products.
