Thailand Develops Durian Residue Monitoring Handbook
Thailand's Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Itthi Sirilatthayakorn, recently led a meeting focused on addressing concerns regarding durian fruit exports. The Ministry is developing a handbook to guide farmers and businesses on monitoring pesticide residues, specifically Cadmium and Gold O, to ensure the quality of durian fruit and boost confidence with trading partners like China. This initiative follows a decline in Thailand's durian exports to China in 2024 and aims to address competition from Vietnamese and Malaysian durian. The Prime Minister's upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping will also address agricultural trade concerns, including streamlining transportation through high-speed railway projects connecting Thailand, Laos, and China.
