Suburban Organic Agriculture Takes Center Stage
Four years ago, the land in Lien Nhat village was largely abandoned and uncultivable. In 2021, Nguyen Huu Quyen, Director of the Lien Nhat Thach Ha Agricultural Production and General Service Cooperative, left his construction job and returned to his hometown to establish an organic agriculture model. With an initial bank loan and policy support, the cooperative leased 20 hectares of land to cultivate rice, raise fish and prawns, and develop tourism services. After four years, this integrated farming system generates over 700 million VND in annual revenue. The cooperative's success has attracted new members and created local jobs. Vo Ta Quynh, an agricultural biotechnology graduate, returned to his hometown to work at the cooperative, earning a stable income. Truong Ba Duy, a former taxi driver, now operates a workshop producing sesame crackers and rice paper for the cooperative. Future plans include lotus cultivation and expansion of ecotourism services. The cooperative prioritizes sustainable practices, cultivating high-quality rice varieties without pesticides. This model has transformed the local economy and promotes environmentally friendly agriculture.
