Strict Penalties for Violations Lowering Topsoil in Agricultural Production
The Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, led by Chairman Pham Thien Nghia, is cracking down on illegal topsoil removal and land misuse. District and city committees are instructed to increase inspections and strictly enforce penalties for unauthorized land leveling, conversion of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes, and topsoil exploitation. Public participation is encouraged through a movement to report violations, particularly illegal topsoil exploitation. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment will collaborate with law enforcement agencies to conduct inspections and handle violations. Public education on land law will be enhanced to raise awareness and ensure compliance. Local leaders will be held accountable for instances of illegal topsoil exploitation causing public discontent.
