Rubber Prices Today, February 17, 2025: Shanghai Exchange Edges Up Slightly
Global rubber prices on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) and Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) show mixed trends. TOCOM RSS3 rubber for March 2025 delivery decreased slightly, while May 2025 delivery edged up. SHFE natural rubber prices for both March and May 2025 deliveries increased. This follows a week of mixed market movements with decreases in Thailand and increases in Japan and China. Reduced global supply due to low production periods and increased demand from tire manufacturers contribute to the upward pressure on prices. A potential trade war, initiated by US tariff policies, further complicates the market as China, a major rubber consumer, seeks alternative export markets. Domestically, Vietnamese rubber latex prices remain stable at 434 - 440 VND/TSC. Major producers like Mang Yang, Ba Ria, and Phu Rieng maintain consistent pricing for raw and lump latex.
