Rice Prices Today, February 20, 2025: Rice Continues to Decline
Domestic rice prices decreased on February 20, 2025, while paddy prices remained stable. High paddy prices and slow transactions persisted in many regions. Kien Giang saw slow trading and lower fragrant rice prices. Hau Giang traders halted bulk buying, seeking reductions in previous paddy orders. Stagnant rice trading and low buyer interest continued in Can Tho and Ca Mau. Prices for various paddy types ranged from 5,400 VND/kg for IR 50404 to 20,000 VND/kg for Nang Nhen (dry). Rice prices also saw a slight decrease with slow supply and trading. Fragrant rice quality improved in Sa Dec (Dong Thap), but transactions remained slow and raw material rice prices declined. An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang) and Lap Vo (Dong Thap) experienced similar trends with low supply and declining prices for some varieties. Prices for various rice types ranged from 7,700 VND/kg for summer-autumn IR 504 raw rice to 28,000 VND/kg for Nang Nhen rice. Export prices remained stable at 310 USD/ton for 100% broken rice, 394 USD/ton for 5% broken rice, and 369 USD/ton for 25% broken rice. The 2024-2025 winter-spring rice harvest in the Mekong Delta saw significantly lower paddy prices compared to the previous year, impacting farmers. Prices dropped by 2,000-2,500 VND/kg, with Dai Thom 8 and OM 18 paddy at 6,400-6,800 VND/kg compared to 8,400-9,000 VND/kg in 2024. Despite the decline, farmers continued to collaborate with businesses and traders.
