Rice Prices Today, February 16th, 2025: Slight Fluctuations This Week
Domestic rice prices on February 16th, 2025, experienced minor fluctuations across various regions of Vietnam. Many localities reported low incoming supply and slow trading activity. Prices for certain varieties decreased slightly, while others remained stable. In Kien Giang, prices held steady, with inquiries from traders but few finalized transactions. Long An saw sporadic trading focused on IR50404 and Dai Thom 8 rice. Farmers in An Giang offered rice nearing harvest, attracting trader inquiries. Can Tho's market saw finalized contracts with largely unchanged prices, while Ca Mau experienced high asking prices with limited buyer interest. Specific price examples include IR 50404 at 5,200 - 5,400 VND/kg and Dai Thom 8 at 6,500 - 6,700 VND/kg. Export prices for Vietnamese rice remained low, with 100% broken rice at 310 USD/ton. This contrasts with Japan, where rice prices have nearly doubled in the past year, prompting the government to release national reserves to stabilize the market and address supply chain disruptions.
