Rice Exports to Singapore Surge, with Vietnam Dominating Key Segments

Vietnam's rice exports to Singapore reached nearly $85 million in 2024, a substantial increase of 28.45% compared to 2023. This growth reinforces Vietnam's position as a leading supplier of white rice, fragrant milled rice, and glutinous rice to the Singaporean market. While India and Thailand led in overall rice export value, Vietnam secured the largest market share for these three key rice varieties. Vietnam's success is particularly notable in the glutinous rice and fragrant milled rice segments, which experienced significant growth. However, a marginal increase in white rice exports and declines in other varieties resulted in Vietnam holding the third position overall in rice exports to Singapore, behind India and Thailand. Despite facing competition from established players, Vietnam remains a crucial player in the Singaporean rice market thanks to the quality and popularity of its key rice varieties. The consistent demand in Singapore presents ongoing opportunities for Vietnamese rice exporters.
