Regional specialty products attract customers during Lunar New Year
As the Lunar New Year approaches, ethnic minority communities in Vietnam are busy preparing traditional food products. Smoked meats, fermented fish sauce, and rice wine are popular choices, often packaged with care for gifting. Ms. Ho Thi Hoa My, a food producer in Quang Tri province, sources ingredients locally and hires additional workers to help process and package goods for the holiday rush. She sells both online and at local markets. In Huong Hoa district, the Ba Tang Clean Agricultural Cooperative focuses on harvesting and drying natural products like bamboo shoots and wild tea. Cooperative member Ms. Ho Thi Linh explained that this work significantly increases their income during the Lunar New Year season. Elsewhere, Ms. Ko Kan Hai Au prepares large quantities of herbal wine, a traditional drink of the region. Her quality-checked product is popular during the holidays, selling over 1,000 liters. These producers demonstrate how the Lunar New Year provides economic opportunities for local communities through the sale of fresh fruit and other agricultural products.
