Raising Awareness of Environmental Protection in Agriculture
The Soc Trang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is actively promoting environmental protection in agriculture. Through training and policy implementation, they are integrating sustainable practices into new rural development initiatives. This includes training on proper pesticide packaging disposal and livestock waste management, aligning with national environmental protection guidelines. The province is working towards achieving new rural standards in numerous communes by the end of 2024, with a focus on sustainable agricultural transformation. They've implemented programs like the "3 reductions, 3 increases" and "1 must, 5 reductions" techniques in rice cultivation, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. While progress has been made, challenges remain, including limited infrastructure and awareness. Future efforts will focus on continued education, community involvement, and securing funding for environmental protection initiatives to ensure sustainable agriculture in the region.
