Prime Minister: Must Build a Green, Sustainable Agricultural Ecosystem
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a dialogue with Vietnamese farmers on December 31, 2024, emphasizing the need for increased investment in a sustainable agricultural ecosystem. He stressed that doubling investment requires private sector participation, not just increased state funds. The dialogue, attended by government officials and over 4,000 farmers, cooperatives, and businesses, addressed key issues in the agricultural sector. Record agricultural exports of $62.5 billion USD in 2024 highlighted the sector's success. The Prime Minister acknowledged the need for stronger policies to promote collective economies, implement the 2024 Land Law effectively, and unlock credit capital for agricultural development. He urged the development of effective and practical agricultural insurance policies, especially in the wake of recent storm damage. Furthermore, he called for a shift from agricultural production to an agricultural economy, focusing on a sustainable agricultural ecosystem with regional and sectoral linkages to ensure long-term growth and resilience.
