Peruvian Coffee Exports Decline in January Despite Higher Global Prices
The global coffee market began 2025 with concerns about reduced supplies from major exporters like Brazil and Vietnam due to weather challenges. These concerns led to higher coffee prices, reaching highs in futures contracts. This presented a potential opportunity for Peruvian coffee exports. However, January 2025 saw a decline in Peruvian coffee exports. Shipments totaled 6,343 tons, valued at US$34.5 million, representing a significant decrease in both volume and value compared to January 2024. While the average price per kilogram increased, the overall export revenue declined. The United States, Germany, and Belgium were the top destinations for Peruvian coffee exports in January.
