Peruvian Blueberry Exports Decline in January Due to Lower Prices
Peruvian blueberry exports saw a significant decline in January 2025. Total exports reached 23,454 tons, valued at US$110.31 million, reflecting a 15% decrease in volume and a substantial 41% decrease in value compared to January 2024. The average price dropped by 31.3% to US$4.70 per kilogram. Lower blueberry prices and a sharp decline in exports to China contributed significantly to this downturn. The United States remained the primary destination for fresh blueberries, receiving 64% of Peru's exports. While shipments to the US decreased by only 1% in volume, the value dropped by 30% due to lower prices. The Netherlands and the United Kingdom were the second and third largest markets, respectively. Camposol led exports with a 30% market share, followed by Hortifrut and Blueberries Perú. These top exporters primarily focused on the United States and the Netherlands.
