Pepper Price Today, February 22, 2025: Slight Decrease Domestically
Global pepper prices showed an upward trend on February 22nd, with increases in Indonesia and a more substantial rise in Malaysia. Vietnam's pepper export prices remained stable. Domestically, pepper prices saw a slight decline, decreasing by 500 - 1,000 VND in key growing areas like Dak Lak and Gia Lai. This price drop poses a risk to maintaining the 162,000 VND/kg threshold. High pepper prices are attributed to reduced acreage over the past decade as farmers shifted to other crops and increased global demand. Simultaneously, harsh weather and disease have impacted production. While current prices benefit farmers, experts advise against drastic expansion, recommending a focus on quality and sustainable farming practices.
