Pepper Price Today, February 18, 2025: Domestic Prices Surge
Global pepper prices held steady on February 18, 2025. Black pepper in Lampung, Indonesia, remained at 7,294 USD/ton, while Muntok white pepper stayed at 10,068 USD/ton. Malaysian Kuching ASTA black pepper was priced at 9,000 USD/ton. Vietnamese black pepper export prices were lower, with 500 g/l at 6,500 USD/ton. Industry expert William S. C. Yii, Director of Nguong Aik Kuching Sdn Bhd, believes the limited global pepper supply and consistent demand will maintain upward pressure on prices. He noted a 10% increase in Malaysian pepper prices since the start of the year. He added that traders are holding onto their stock, anticipating further price increases. From May to July 2024, global pepper prices surged due to concerns about production shortages and panic buying. In contrast to the stable global market, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam saw a significant increase on February 18th. Prices in key growing regions like Dak Lak, Dak Nong, and Gia Lai rose by 2,000 to 3,000 VND/kg, reaching highs of 162,000 VND/kg. This surge pushed domestic prices to a new high.
