Organic Mulberries Attract Tourists to Vietnam
Born and raised in Tay Ninh, agricultural engineer Nguyen Thanh Vu spent over 15 years working with Japanese agricultural practices. Witnessing their meticulous approach to land and water usage and respect for nature, Vu realized the potential for improvement in Vietnamese agriculture. He was particularly impressed by the Japanese emphasis on high-quality, organic products free from harmful substances. Inspired, Vu left his job in 2018 to establish his own organic farm in Tay Ninh, focusing on mulberries for their ease of growth, adaptability, and medicinal properties. His farm now boasts over 1,000 trees, cultivated using Japanese organic farming methods. The farm produces fresh mulberries, syrup, and jam, primarily supplying Ho Chi Minh City. Recognizing the growing trend of green tourism, Vu opened his farm to visitors, offering a peaceful escape and hands-on experience with organic farming. Guests can pick mulberries, learn about sustainable practices, and enjoy the fresh air. This initiative aligns with Tay Ninh's tourism development strategy, which seeks to leverage the region's agricultural potential. Vu's farm serves as a successful model for agricultural tourism, demonstrating the economic and environmental benefits of this approach.
