Organic Guava Cultivation on Sandy Soil Yields Half a Billion VND Annually

Nearly five years ago, Mr. Nguyen Van Han leased nearly 3 hectares of exploited sand dunes in Ly Trach commune, Bo Trach district (Quang Binh) to cultivate guava. He focused on organic farming practices, using composted animal manure and fish scraps with organic phosphate bio-fertilizers to enrich the sandy soil. This, along with bio-pesticides for pest control, resulted in healthy guava trees yielding abundant, high-quality fruit. The guava trees produce high yields, with three guavas weighing approximately one kilogram and selling for about 20,000 VND per kilogram. Through careful cultivation and selective pruning, Mr. Han ensures a year-round supply of guavas, earning his family over 500 million VND annually. He has also established the Phuc Loc Agricultural Service and General Trading Cooperative to expand organic farming practices and introduce new guava varieties.
