Organic Dien Pomelo Farming: Rejuvenating Trees, Revitalizing Lives
Four years ago, Mr. In and Mrs. Phuong, owners of a pomelo orchard in Hanoi, faced declining yields in their aging orchard. Discovering organic farming practices online, they transitioned their farm, leading to remarkable results. The shift not only rejuvenated their 20-year-old Dien pomelo trees but also improved their own well-being, eliminating the fatigue associated with chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Previously, overuse of chemicals and increased supply had led to declining prices and soil degradation. Now, each tree yields 100-200 fruits per season. The soil, once barren, is now fertile and teeming with earthworms, supporting lush vegetation. The orchard utilizes a combination of biofertilizers, microbial products, and inorganic fertilizers like NPK and potassium to ensure robust growth and sweet fruit. Natural ingredients like corn, soybeans, fish, and chicken manure are composted and applied to nourish the trees. This organic approach has resulted in higher yields, improved fruit quality, and reduced pest problems, proving more profitable despite higher initial costs. This year's harvest is estimated at 60,000 fruits, already pre-sold to loyal customers.
