Organic Bamboo Shoot Farming: Easy and Profitable

Mr. Nguyen Kim Thanh, a disabled veteran, successfully transitioned from rubber to bamboo farming in Binh Phuoc Province, Vietnam. Recognizing the low-maintenance nature and year-round harvest potential of bamboo shoots, he established the Thanh Tam Bamboo Shoot Cooperative. The cooperative, now cultivating over 100 hectares, focuses on sustainable agriculture practices, utilizing organic fertilizer and prioritizing fresh and dried bamboo shoot production. They invested in a processing workshop with an industrial drying system to preserve bamboo shoots during the rainy season and increase profitability. Mr. Thanh emphasizes the importance of organic farming for high-quality bamboo shoots and meticulous processing for optimal taste and extended shelf life. The two-stage drying process ensures the shoots are dried evenly and prevents spoilage, resulting in a premium product.
