Nearly 800 Vietnamese Seafood Enterprises Gain Access to Taiwan Market
The Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) recently approved 794 Vietnamese seafood enterprises for export to Taiwan, according to the Import-Export Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. This significant increase in licensed exporters follows Vietnam's successful completion of a food safety control system assessment for its seafood industry. This approval allows these Vietnamese enterprises to export seafood to Taiwan starting December 11, 2024. This is a crucial development as Taiwan requires all exporting seafood companies to be licensed by the TFDA. Vietnam's seafood exports to Taiwan reached nearly $150 million in the first 11 months of 2024, a 5.8% increase compared to the previous year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). Key export products include fish, fish cake, surimi, squid, and octopus.
