Minister Le Minh Hoan Proposes Action Programs to Promote Sustainable Agriculture
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan addressed the Francophonie Cooperation Forum on Sustainable Agriculture, highlighting Vietnam's commitment to sustainable agricultural practices. He noted Vietnam's agricultural sector achieved 3.3% GDP growth in 2024, with agricultural exports reaching $62.5 billion USD. Minister Hoan emphasized the importance of global cooperation in promoting sustainable agriculture, particularly in the face of climate change. He highlighted Vietnam's project for sustainable rice cultivation in the Mekong Delta, focusing on reducing emissions and promoting green growth. He proposed four action programs: increased cooperation among Francophonie members and partners, increased financial support for technology transfer and capacity building, promotion of climate-resilient agricultural practices, and the use of advanced, low-emission technologies. Vietnam offered to share its expertise and resources with other developing countries, particularly in areas like cultivation techniques and irrigation systems to ensure global food security amidst climate change challenges. He stressed the importance of collective action, stating that while individual progress is possible, collaborative efforts lead to greater achievements.
