Midland Tea Farm by Nui Coc Lake Converts to Organic Production
Thu Luan midland tea farm's tea hills boast a prime location on the eastern hills surrounding Nui Coc Lake. The area's clean water and temperate climate provide ideal conditions for organic tea cultivation. Farm owner, Mr. Dang Van Luan, emphasizes the importance of high-quality ancient midland tea varieties, painstakingly sourced from the Northern Mountainous Agriculture and Forestry Science and Technology Institute. These varieties are key to the distinct flavor and cultural significance of Tan Cuong tea. The 2.5-hectare farm utilizes organic fertilizers and natural pest control methods, ensuring healthy plants and soil. Manual weeding and collaboration with the Thai Nguyen City Agricultural Service Center for pest management further reinforce their commitment to organic practices. This dedication to quality over quantity has resulted in comparable yields to conventional farming by the third harvest. Thai Nguyen City Agricultural Service Center Director, Ms. Dao Thi Kim Quy, highlights the city's support for organic agriculture, including technical guidance and assistance with product consumption. Mr. Luan envisions integrating community tourism into the farm, showcasing safe tea production and contributing to local economic growth. Thai Nguyen City is actively promoting sustainable and organic tea cultivation, preserving traditional varieties, and diversifying tea products across its 1,500 hectares of tea fields.
