Mechanization Propels Agricultural Cooperatives Forward
Manual labor is disappearing from Vietnam's agriculture sector, replaced by machines and drones. The High-Tech Application Agricultural Cooperative in Long Dien district, a pioneer in agricultural technology, utilizes drones for pesticide application and machinery for various tasks, improving product quality and creating local jobs. This shift towards mechanization, supported by government equipment, allows farmers to increase efficiency and reduce costs. For instance, transplanting machines significantly reduce labor, while drying and milling machines streamline the process for traders. Drone pesticide spraying, increasingly popular among cooperatives, saves on pesticide and labor costs while boosting yields. In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, a province with extensive fruit tree cultivation, drone spraying is expected to cover 50% of the area by 2030, leading to substantial cost reductions. Mechanization also benefits fruit processing. The Hac Dich Green-skinned Pomelo Cooperative, with the help of a new processing line, has automated washing, sorting, and packaging, improving productivity and reducing labor needs. The provincial government actively supports these advancements through various projects, promoting the use of technology in agriculture to enhance productivity, product value, and farmers' incomes.
