Live Pig Prices Today, February 14, 2025: Stable Across Three Regions
Vietnam's live pig market shows stability across all regions on February 14, 2025. Northern region prices range from 70,000 to 72,000 VND/kg, with Bac Giang and Phu Tho at the high end (72,000 VND/kg) and Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Nam Dinh, and Ninh Binh at the low end (70,000 VND/kg). The Central and Central Highlands region sees prices between 68,000 and 72,000 VND/kg, with Lam Dong and Binh Thuan reaching the highest price at 72,000 VND/kg. In the South, prices fluctuate between 70,000 and 73,000 VND/kg. Lam Dong holds the highest price nationwide at 73,000 VND/kg, while Long An, Vinh Long, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, and Bac Lieu record the lowest at 70,000 VND/kg. According to Duong Tat Thang, Director of the Department of Livestock Production, any pork shortage is localized. Increased demand before, during, and after the Lunar New Year, coupled with higher pre-holiday prices, led to early sales of pigs below the ideal slaughter weight of 100kg. This reduced the post-holiday supply of market-ready pigs, causing a temporary price increase.
