Lao Cai Strives for 5,000 Hectares of Organic Cinnamon
In 2024, Lao Cai province harvested over 157,000 tons of dried cinnamon branches, leaves, and bark from 60,800 hectares. The province also yielded 58,805 cubic meters of cinnamon wood and 465 tons of essential oil. Most cinnamon production in Lao Cai adheres to safety and organic standards, ensuring stable prices. To expand on this success, the province aims to have over 5,000 hectares certified for organic agriculture by 2025. This initiative includes farmer training in sustainable cinnamon agriculture practices and applying advanced scientific techniques to the entire process, from seedling to final product. Furthermore, Lao Cai province emphasizes reforestation, forest protection, and fire prevention efforts across its 270,415 hectares of forest land.
