Lang Nu Village Miraculously Revived
In Lang Nu, rows of vegetables are sprouting on new land, revitalizing the village alongside newly planted trees and flowers. A new village, more resilient and compassionate, is emerging after a devastating natural disaster. After nearly three months, 40 resettlement houses in Lang Nu Village, Phuc Khanh Commune, Bao Yen District, Lao Cai Province, have been completed. These houses symbolize rebirth and hope for the highland people. Lang Nu, a Tay ethnic community, was ravaged by a flash flood on September 10, 2024, leaving 60 dead, 7 missing, and dozens homeless. From the immense pain, support from across the country helped Lang Nu rise. With tireless efforts, the Lang Nu resettlement area was completed 15 days ahead of schedule. On December 15, 2024, the handover ceremony marked a milestone in Lang Nu's recovery. Each new house includes a vegetable garden and flower garden, with about 1,000 square meters of land per house. The village also has a community house, a kindergarten, and a primary school. The resettlement area, located on Sim Hill, features traditional Tay-style stilt houses. Lush gardens are bringing new life to the village. Hoang Thi Canh, a resident, expressed gratitude for the support and the opportunity to rebuild. Three families voluntarily gave up their houses to those in greater need, demonstrating compassion. The Lang Nu Resettlement Area embodies solidarity and humanity. In the last days of the year, new houses in Nam Tong and Kho Vang resettlement areas were also handed over, providing new homes for those affected by the storm. Ban Thi Cham, a resident of Kho Vang, shared her gratitude for the new home after losing her husband and son in the flood. The houses in Nam Tong, built in traditional Mong style, offer a sense of peace and hope. Sung A Tua, another resident, expressed determination to rebuild his life. These resettlement areas also include community facilities and schools. Lao Cai Urban Environment Company planted 280 trees around the Kho Vang resettlement area, creating a beautiful living space. The houses in Lang Nu, Nam Tong, and Kho Vang symbolize vitality and the strength of community.
