Lai Vung District's Traditional Craft Festival Opens
The Lai Vung District People's Committee in Dong Thap province held the opening ceremony of the 2025 Traditional Craft Festival on January 16th at the Lai Vung District Cultural and Sports Center. The festival, themed "Enduring Identity, Deeply Engraved Value," celebrates the contributions of local artisans and skilled workers. Chairman of the Lai Vung District People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Huu Nghia, stated the festival aims to promote the district's unique cultural values and contribute to tourism and economic growth, particularly through the development of agricultural products. Lai Vung is known for its fertile land between the Tien and Hau rivers, producing specialties like Lai Vung pomelos and nem. The festival highlights traditional crafts like boat building and nem making, recognized as National Intangible Cultural Heritage. The event features exhibitions, hands-on experiences, and displays of local agricultural products and crafts. From January 16th to 18th, visitors can interact with artisans, enjoy cultural performances, and participate in seminars on preserving and developing traditional crafts. Lai Vung District currently has six recognized traditional craft villages, contributing significantly to the local economy. The festival aims to honor these traditions and promote sustainable development for the region.
