Lai The Nguyen Addresses the 'Core Issue' for Thanh Hoa's Agricultural Development
Thanh Hoa's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) held a conference to review 2024's successes and outline the 2025 plan. The agricultural sector exceeded expectations with a 4.17% growth rate, exceeding the planned target. For 2025, the sector aims for at least 3% growth in agriculture, forestry, and fishery. DARD proposed twelve tasks and solutions, focusing on innovation, digital transformation, and green, circular economic models. Lai The Nguyen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, stressed the need for large-scale specialized farming with high technology to produce clean and organic products. He emphasized leveraging regional advantages and forming large specialized farming areas to enable advanced techniques, new varieties, and traceability, attracting processing enterprises and improving product quality. Nguyen urged local authorities to educate farmers on the benefits of clean and organic agriculture and to prioritize agricultural development. He called for at least one large-scale, clean, organic agricultural production model in each district by 2025, replicating successful models like Ha Trung district's organic rice production. He directed the agricultural sector to advise on land accumulation for large-scale production, establish clean and organic production areas, and develop specialty fruit trees based on local conditions, avoiding overproduction. He also advocated for livestock projects with processing capabilities and environmental protection.
