Japanese Conglomerate Secures 1,500 Hectares of Bananas from Bau Duc's Company
ANA Group, Japan's second-largest airline, has agreed to purchase the entire banana yield from 1,500 hectares of Hoang Anh Gia Lai's plantation in Laos. This agreement ensures Hoang Anh Gia Lai's Bolaven Plateau bananas will be widely available in the Japanese market. Hoang Anh Gia Lai's Chairman, Doan Nguyen Duc, confirmed that ANA Group's interest began four years ago with small purchases. Increased demand from Japanese consumers for these fresh fruit prompted ANA Group's commitment to purchasing the entire output from the 1,500-hectare plantation. While the purchase price remains undisclosed, Duc assured its stability and indicated ANA Group's willingness to increase purchases should production expand. These bananas are sold under the Amami brand, known for their sweetness and soft texture, a result of the unique growing conditions on the Bolaven Plateau. The fertile volcanic soil and significant temperature variations contribute to the high quality, meeting the stringent standards of the Japanese market. Hoang Anh Gia Lai currently cultivates over 7,000 hectares of bananas across Vietnam and Laos, exporting to various countries, including China, South Korea, and Japan.
