Guangxi Proposes Agricultural Product Inspection and Quarantine Center to Boost Fruit Imports
Party Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Tran Cuong, met with Vietnam's Minister of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Hong Dien, to discuss strengthening trade relations. Guangxi's foreign trade relies heavily on bilateral trade with Vietnam, accounting for nearly 40%. Fresh fruit trade between the two regions constitutes a significant portion of the total fruit import and export volume between China and ASEAN. To bolster this crucial trade partnership, Secretary Tran Cuong proposed the establishment of an inspection and quarantine center for Vietnamese agricultural products exported to China. This initiative aims to facilitate smoother and faster customs clearance for agricultural products, particularly fresh fruit. He also urged the implementation of smart border gates and highlighted the importance of the upcoming 22nd China-ASEAN Expo. Minister Dien reciprocated by suggesting strategic cooperation areas including stabilizing supply chains for agricultural products, expanding market access for Vietnamese fruits, and enhancing cooperation in renewable energy and industrial development.
