Gia Lai Farmers Embrace Biopesticides for Sustainable Agriculture
The use of biopesticides is gaining momentum in Chu Pah district, a major agricultural region in Gia Lai province known for its diverse fruit tree cultivation. Local farmers are shifting towards organic farming practices and utilizing biopesticides to enhance product quality and protect consumer health. In areas like Ia Nhin, Ia Ka, and Ia Mo Nong communes, farmers are prioritizing biopesticides for pest control in their durian, longan, and passion fruit orchards. Mr. Bui Van Duong, a farmer in Ia Ka commune, has successfully implemented organic farming methods for years, using indigenous microorganisms to combat pests without harmful chemicals. Similarly, Mr. Le Kim Long in Ia Mo Nong commune has adopted biopesticides for his passion fruit farm, aiming to meet the stringent requirements of the export market, particularly for chemical residue-free produce destined for Europe. The increasing demand for biopesticides is evident in the growing number of agricultural agents who are now prioritizing these products over chemical alternatives. While biopesticides may require more frequent application, farmers recognize their long-term benefits for environmental sustainability and consumer safety.
