Fresh Fruit Dominates Air Cargo from Brazilian Airports
Fresh fruit shipments are a major component of Latam Cargo's business, generating 60% to 70% of its logistics services revenue in Brazil. This growth in agricultural exports is driven by increased global demand for fresh produce, particularly from Europe and the United States. Latam Cargo's vice president for South America, Claudio Torres, confirmed that fresh fruit is the primary product transported from Brazilian airports. The company's fresh fruit segment has seen consistent annual growth between 5% and 10%. The pandemic further fueled this demand, leading to a 33% increase in Latam Cargo's fresh fruit cargo volume between 2022 and 2023. To maintain quality, the transport logistics ensure that exported fruit reaches consumers within two days of harvest.
