Free-Range Chicken Farming Model in Hillside Orchards
Mr. Bui Thanh Truyen, former Chairman of the People's Committee of the former Nam Son commune in Hoa Binh province, proudly shared his secret: free-range chickens raised in tangerine and orange orchards. These "armed chickens" forage freely, resulting in exceptionally delicious meat that fetches a high price of 120,000 - 140,000 VND/kg. This traditional practice embodies the principles of agriculture in vietnam, where farmers like millionaire Bui Van Don utilize their orchards for dual benefits. With his chickens foraging for weeds and insects, he reduces the need for weeding and pesticides, while their manure naturally fertilizes the soil. This sustainable farming method not only improves the taste and quality of the fresh mango, making it sweeter and more fragrant but also significantly reduces the need for agricultural processing. Other farmers, like Mr. Bui Van Tuan, raise chickens and geese in their orchards, further demonstrating the effectiveness of this integrated approach to agriculture. By embracing natural methods and avoiding herbicides, the community enjoys both economic prosperity and a healthy environment.
