Dong Thap Rice Exports Surge in 2024

Dong Thap province experienced significant growth in agricultural exports, particularly rice, in 2024. Export turnover reached an estimated US$2 billion, a 53% increase compared to 2023 and exceeding the planned target by 142%. This success is largely due to rice exports, which totaled nearly 1.4 million tons—a remarkable 2.5-fold increase from the previous year. India's ongoing restrictions on rice exports created increased global demand, allowing Dong Thap to capitalize on this opportunity. The province's focus on enhancing rice quality and processing technology further contributed to its export success. Dong Thap's commitment to agricultural processing and its strategic development of the rice sector have positioned it as a major player in the global rice market.
