Decoding the 'Quantum Leap' in Fruit and Vegetable Exports
Continuously reaching new milestones, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports soared in 2024. After a brief Lunar New Year slowdown in February, exports consistently achieved double-digit growth, peaking in September at an unprecedented 917 million USD. This momentum propelled the sector past the 2023 record of 5.6 billion USD, reaching 6.6 billion USD by November and projected to reach or exceed 7 billion USD by year's end. This remarkable growth follows years of hovering around the 3-4 billion USD mark. Durian, dragon fruit, and mango led fruit exports, highlighting the sector's diversification. China remains the largest market for Vietnamese fresh fruit, with exports exceeding 4.3 billion USD by November 2024, driven by increased production, official export protocols for fruits like frozen durian and fresh coconut, and strong market demand. This success underscores the importance of market access and trade agreements in boosting agricultural exports.
