Construction of Infrastructure for Mekong Delta's Largest Reservoir Ahead of Schedule
The Lang The freshwater reservoir project in Tra Vinh province, a crucial investment for Vietnam's agricultural sector, is currently ahead of schedule. This ambitious project, with a total investment of 4.5 trillion VND, aims to provide over 10 million cubic meters of freshwater for agricultural production and daily needs. Phase 1, focusing on vital infrastructure such as an 8.1km road and irrigation systems, is progressing rapidly despite initial challenges in site clearance. The project has surpassed 15% completion, with package No. 34 already at 34%. Construction crews are working diligently, even with material transportation difficulties, to ensure completion before the Tra Vinh Provincial Party Congress in August 2025. The reservoir's impact is already being felt. Newly built houses from compensation and resettlement efforts highlight the project's positive influence on the local community. Residents anticipate new economic opportunities through tourism and related services. Upon completion, the Lang The reservoir will be the largest in the Mekong Delta, significantly contributing to the region's sustainable development by ensuring water security and promoting economic growth.
