Coffee Prices Today 21/2/2025: Market Plunges
Global coffee prices experienced a significant drop on February 21, 2025. Both Arabica and Robusta coffee futures saw substantial declines on the London and New York exchanges. Arabica coffee prices fell over 5% to a two-week low, while Robusta prices also decreased. Traders attribute the decline to roasters having potentially overstocked after recent aggressive buying spurred by diminishing expectations of further price drops. Speculators are now securing profits or selling to mitigate risk. Increased coffee stockpiles further contributed to the downward pressure on prices. Despite this downturn, long-term prospects remain uncertain due to forecasts of a smaller Brazilian coffee crop in 2025-2026. Domestically, Vietnamese coffee prices mirrored the global trend, decreasing by 1,500 VND to a range of 130,700 - 132,000 VND/kg. Although Vietnam saw a slight increase in coffee exports for the first half of February, cumulative exports for the year remain significantly lower than the previous year.
