Cocoa Exports Show Promising Outlook for 2025
The global cocoa market outlook for 2025 remains uncertain due to the severe Harmattan season in West Africa, potentially impacting cocoa crops and further diminishing global supply. This harsh weather pattern could lead to soil drying and pod wilting, reducing the mid-crop harvest and keeping cocoa prices high. While unexpected rains in West Africa offered some relief, the limited global supply presents opportunities for producers like Peru. In 2024, Peruvian cocoa exports thrived, with shipments totaling 156,560 tons valued at US$1.227 billion, a significant increase compared to 2023. The United States, Malaysia, and Indonesia were the top importers of Peruvian cocoa, primarily in the form of cocoa beans, cocoa butter, and cocoa powder. Numerous agricultural exporters participated in this success, highlighting Peru's growing role in the global cocoa market.
