Climatic Conditions Favor Egyptian Oranges
Egypt is expecting a bumper orange crop this season thanks to ideal climatic conditions. Khaled Alhabouny, manager at Alhabouny Group, a leading Egyptian exporter, told Fruitnet that favorable weather has led to a plentiful harvest of high-quality oranges. The significant temperature difference between cooler nights and warmer days has resulted in larger, more uniformly colored fruit. These conditions also reduce the risk of fruit fly infestations, ensuring high quality for export. This increased production comes as demand for Egyptian oranges is expected to rise due to reduced yields in Spain following recent floods. Alhabouny expressed optimism for the upcoming season, noting the growing global demand for Egyptian citrus, particularly for juicing.
