China Remains Vietnam's Largest Cassava Market
China remains the dominant market for Vietnamese cassava, accounting for 92.85% of export volume and 91.77% of export value in 2024. While total exports of cassava and cassava products from Vietnam experienced a decline compared to 2023, reaching 2.43 million tons valued at 1.06 billion USD, China remained the largest consumer. This signifies the importance of the Chinese market for Vietnamese agricultural exports. Though export prices saw a slight decrease due to lowered demand for animal feed in China, the Ministry of Industry and Trade expects China to continue as the primary destination for Vietnamese cassava in 2025. Vietnam aims to strengthen its cassava industry through initiatives promoting sustainable farming practices and increased processing capacity to maintain its competitive edge in the global market.
