Beware of Pests Threatening Winter-Spring Rice in the Mekong Delta
The Mekong Delta's Winter-Spring rice crop is facing significant pest and disease pressure. In Kien Giang province, over 14,000 hectares of rice have been affected by rice blast, dirty panicle, and other pests. Cool weather and dense fog are creating favorable conditions for these issues to spread. Rice blast is the most prevalent, impacting over 6,700 hectares. In Hau Giang province, over 3,600 hectares have been affected by pests and diseases, including brown planthopper and rice blast. Authorities in both provinces are working with farmers to monitor the situation, provide training, and implement control measures to protect the rice crop and ensure a successful harvest.
